Dear Mel,

I'm sorry to hear that you feel unequal in the doggie household. Remember we all originally came from wolves, which were pack animals.

As unfair as it may seem, pack animals developed a strong sense of member hierarchy—it was necessary for their survival.

Try to respect that ancient holdover, and just hope that your owner will treat all the members of the household with respect.
